How much does it cost to start a podcast?

As mentioned in my first post, this is not my first attempt at starting a podcast. I initiated the first steps more than a year ago and eventually canceled all my subscriptions. If you’ve ever wanted to start your own podcast, you may be wondering how much it really costs to get started. While there are free versions and free trials of most applications, I knew after a few days that I would want access to the additional features.

By no means am I the expert, but here are the expenses I have racked up so far:

  • Website domain - $14/year

  • Google workspace (email, etc.) - $72/year

  • Squarespace (website) - $36/month

  • Riverside FM (recording and editing software) - $144/year

That works out to roughly $54/month to run my podcast. Eventually, I hope to add merch. I will do a post in a few months updating my expenses.
